How to
Get Started
The hardest part is making the decision. Once you do, our admissions team takes care of the rest. From your first conversation through to your arrival in Chiang Mai, every step is guided, confidential, and designed to make the process as straightforward as possible.
Admission Process
Getting in Touch
Contact our admissions team by phone, email, or the online form.
This first conversation is confidential and there is no obligation. We will listen to your situation and answer any questions you have.
Assessing your Needs
Our clinical team reviews your situation, including your history, any current medications, and what you are hoping to achieve. This helps us determine whether Viva is the right fit and we can serve your treatment needs.
Recommending a Program
Based on your assessment, we recommend a treatment plan and program length. Your admissions manager will walk you through what to expect, what is included, and answer any questions about your stay.
Confirming Your Stay
An initial deposit of USD $2,000 is required to secure your accommodation and place on your program. The remaining balance is settled prior to arrival. Your admissions manager can walk you through payment options and answer any questions about the financial side of treatment.
Preparing to Travel to Chiang Mai
Once your booking is confirmed, our team helps you with the practical details: travel arrangements, what to bring, visa requirements, and anything else you need to prepare. We can also coordinate directly with family members, if that is helpful.
Arriving in Chiang Mai
A member of our Client Support Team meets you at Chiang Mai International Airport and drives you directly to the facility. Your on-site clinical assessment begins shortly after arrival, and your personalized treatment plan is finalized within your first few days.
Travel to Chiang Mai
How do I get to Chiang Mai?
Most international clients fly into Chiang Mai International Airport (CNX), which receives direct flights from major Asian hubs including Bangkok, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, and Hong Kong. Clients from the UK, US, Australia, and the Middle East typically connect through Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK), with frequent onward flights to Chiang Mai taking approximately one hour.
Do I need a visa?
Thailand offers visa-on-arrival entry for most nationalities, typically 30 to 60 days depending on your passport. For clients staying longer than 60 days, our team can advise on visa extension options. We recommend confirming your specific visa requirements with your nearest Thai embassy before traveling.
What should I bring?
Your admissions manager will send you a detailed packing list before you travel. In general, bring comfortable clothing suitable for a warm climate, any prescribed medications in their original packaging, and personal items for your stay. Chiang Mai has modern shopping facilities if you need to pick up anything after arrival.
Will someone pick me up
from the airport?
Our team meets you at the airport and drives you to the facility. You do not need to arrange your own transport. If you are arriving on an international flight, your admissions manager will confirm your pickup details in advance.
How to apply for a Thai Medical Visa for long-term addiction treatment
You do not need a Medical Treatment Visa to receive addiction treatment at Viva Rehab. Most clients enter Thailand on a tourist visa or visa exemption, which typically allows a stay of up to 60 days.
Extensions may be possible depending on your circumstances, and our team can help you navigate the process. For the most updated visa requirements, please check with your nearest Thai embassy.

Frequently Asked Questions
How quickly can I be admitted?
In over 50% of cases, clients arrive at Viva Rehab within 14 days of their initial contact, and many begin treatment within just seven days. Whether you are reaching out for yourself or on behalf of someone you care about, we will work around your timeline to get you the help you need as quickly as possible.
Do I need a referral from a doctor?
No. You can contact us directly. If you do have medical records or a referral from a healthcare provider, sharing them can help us plan your treatment more effectively.
Can I contact you about getting a family member into treatment?
Yes. Many of the people who contact us are family members reaching out for someone they care about. We understand how difficult that can be, and we are here to help you navigate the next steps together.
Do I need travel insurance?
We recommend it, but it is not a requirement for admission. Your admissions manager can advise on what to look for in a travel insurance policy.
Do you accept health insurance?
Yes. We work with a number of international insurance providers. If you have an international health plan, our admissions team can help you check your coverage and guide you through the claims process before you commit.
What happens when I arrive?
You are met at the airport by a member of our team and driven to the facility. On arrival, you will meet the clinical team, complete your on-site assessment, and begin settling into the program.
Is the admission process confidential?
Completely. From your first inquiry through to treatment and beyond, strict confidentiality protocols are in place at every stage.
